Donations have been coming in for the expansion project at the Faribault Senior Center. And thanks to the city of Faribault chipping in $152,000 and Rice County kicking in $50,000 the dream is getting closer to becoming real.

Senior Center Director Mona kaiser has stated that they need $1.7 million dollars to break ground. They are currently at $1.6 million.

One of the big reason that Rice county contributed to the project is that the new kitchen in the project will be cranking out Meals on Wheels and other such programs, that will help not just Faribault, but the whole county.

$2.1 million dollars is needed for the project, $1.9 million gets the building done and another $200,000 goes towards furnishings accoring to Kaiser.

She feels they will get to the $1.7 million mark in the next 30 days, then demolish the houses that are on the expansion site, then break ground in April or May of 2017.
