The Faribault Lakers are organizing a fan bus to Belle Plaine next weekend and need to get 50 people signed up by Monday in order to secure the bus.  Next Sunday the fun will start with a cookout at Bashers beginning 4pm.  The bus will then leave the Bashers parking lot at 6 for the 7:30 Lakers game in the State Amateur Baseball Tournament.  Cost for the bus is $15 and that does not include admission to the game.  To order your seat please contact Fred Grote at 507-789-5369 or via e-mail at fgrote@dishmail.net.  The Lakers scrimmaged with Waseca at Bell Field Thursday night and Manager Charlie Lechtenberg says they didn't keep score but felt  they competed very well against an excellent Waseca team that is also a Region Champion and doesn't play this weekend which is the opening weekend of the State Tournament being held in Jordan and Belle Plaine.  Faribault will play the winner of the Delano vs. Luverne game.  Those two teams square off this weekend.  Waseca will play the winner of the Cannon Falls vs. Nisswa game which can be heard on KDHL Saturday morning about 10:50am with Tom Witschen on the call.  The Lakers were without their 4 and 5 hitters in the lineup during the scrimmage.  Manager Lechtenberg says getting an extra week of rest for their ace pitcher Matt Lane is huge and the team believes if they continue to play solid defense and can manufacture some runs then there's no reason they can't bring home some hardware.  You can hear Lechtenberg's comments on Saturday's Faribault Coaches Show between 10 and 10:30am.  The show airs every Saturday and is sponsored by Bashers and the J&J Bowling Center.  The Lakers will be scrimmaging in Waseca on Tuesday as they continue to attempt to stay sharp for their opening game next Sunday.
