Earlier this week I received a news release from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture about $250,000 being available for Sustainable Agriculture Projects. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for "Agriculture Growth, Research and Innovation (AGRI) Sustainable Agriculture Demonstration Grants." The grants can be used to look at new ways of improving farm profitability, conserving natural resources, increase energy efficiency and to improve life in rural communities.

Farmers interested in making some changes to their operations can apply for a grant of up to $25,000. If you receive a grant you mush share your results with other farmers. Your results will be published in the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's Greenbook which provides a summery of each project with results, management tips and other resources. The projects can last up to two or three years. The grant applications are due by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017. for more information and application forms go to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture web site.
