On Monday, Burnsville High School vocal music teacher Erik Akervik was arrested without any problems after it was reported to the Burnsville Police Department that he allegedly had inappropriate communication with a student. And the communication reportedly had sexually explicit material in it. Marty Doll, a communications director with the city, said that Akervik is being held in Dakota County Jail for distributing sexual material that relates/describes sexual conduct with a child, according to the charge posted on the Dakota County jail roster.

Pending investigation, Akervik is suspended from the school district and has been suspended from his position as the men's choir director at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
