The Minnesota State High School League cross country meet was at St. Olaf College in Northfield on Saturday.

Faribault eighth-grader Maddie Skjeveland participated in her second meet and finished 48th in the Class AA girls competition with a time of 19:10.7. Skjeveland ran a 5:54 first mile and paced at 6:11.

Falcon junior Adam Tuma was 78th among the Class AA boys with a 16:53.3 time and had a 5:08 first mile, which was just nine seconds behind the champion.

The Class AA boys individual champion was senior Jaret Carpenter of Wayzata with a time of 15:26.5. He had a pace of 4:59 after running a 4:58 first mile.

Senior Seth Massot of Rochester Century was the Big Nine's highest finisher at 14th.

The Class AA girls champion was Alexandria senior Bethany Hasz, and her twin sister Megan was second. The two paced each other, with both recording a first mile time of 5:22. Bethany won by just over six seconds.

Despite the one-two finish, Alexandria finished ninth as a team because their next highest finisher was 58th.

Edina is the Class AA girls team champion and Hopkins the boys.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown senior Tierney Winter, who was disqualified from the race last year after assisting a runner in distress, finished 35th with a time of 20:03.5.

Tri-City United freshman Jaylee Hanvelt finished 37th with a time of 20:04.6.

Seventh-grader Grace Ping of Winona Cotter was the Class A individual girls champion with a time of 17:52.

Perham was the Class A girls team champion.

Mora captured the Class A boys championship.

The Class A boys individual champion was junior Zack Emery of Lacrescent with a time of 16:07.8.

Lake City juniors Carl Kozlowski and Mitchell Mund finished third and 12th respectively.
