The Hopkins Royals get the top seed in the MSHSL Boys State Basketball Tournament which opens up Wednesday at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis and Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.  Defending champion Apple Valley was upended in Section play, so a new champ will be crowned.  Hopkins was rated #2 in the latest Minnesota Basketball News rankings and will play Tartan at 10 Wednesday morning.  #2 seed Lakeville North was rated #4 and plays Buffalo at 2pm.  #3 seed Cretin-Derham-Hall tangles with St. Francis at 4pm and #4 seed Osseo collides with #5 seed Shakopee at noon.  All the 4A games are at the Target Center.  KDHL Radio's 66th year of baseline to baseline coverage of the tournament includes Hopkins and Lakeville North's opening round games.
