Thursday afternoon I will be broadcasting from Paul Bauer's farm just east of Faribault. Special thanks to Paul for hosting the annual soybean planting broadcast. The objective to educate consumers about all the business that Paul and other farmers in the area depend on every year to produce a crop. Agriculture contributes 20 percent to our economy in Minnesota and the United States. That means one in every five jobs are related to agriculture in the service, processing, packaging, transportation, product development and retailing areas.

I will be bringing lunch out to Paul's farm, and a lot of the business Paul works with will be stopping by. We always try and schedule the soybean planting broadcast when the planting is about done. There is a more relaxed atmosphere and people hang around and visit instead of having to rush back to work. In addition to farming, Paul has a passion for old tractors and cars. He has a number of restored John Deere and Allis Chalmers tractors and classic cars. I am also looking forward to seeing those.
