Our son, Steve, is spending two months this summer in San Francisco as a graduate student summer intern. He is finishing his third year in graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh. He knew the senior chemist at Genentech in San Francisco and she asked if he would be interested in the position. It took a little organizing with his adviser at the University of Pittsburgh, but got it all approved. Genentech is one of the major pharmaceutical companies in the United States.

I am not sure he really wants to work for a pharmaceutical company, but it will look good on his resume. Because of the cost of living in San Francisco and parking, he doesn't have a car out there. His little apartment is about seven miles from the Golden Gate Bridge. Sunday afternoon he jogged over and sent us this picture. Louise and I were hoping to be able to get out to San Francisco this summer. Summers are always busy and with moving our daughter Laura out to graduate school in Michigan it doesn't look like we will make it.
