Sign Up For the Farm Bill

Today I went down to the Farm Service Agency office in Owatonna to sign up for the Farm Bill. When the current Farm Bill was passed there were a number of important decisions that farmers had to make. Those decisions then remained in effect for the rest of the current Farm Bill. However, some farmers forget that each year they still have to sign up for the Farm Bill.

Now would be a good time to stop in and sign up. Most county Farm Service Agency offices do not require an appointment. There is one page that requires a signature and another for qualifying your adjusted gross income. You might want to call for an appointment though if you picked up or lost some acreage this year. That requires Farm Service Agency staff to make those changes to your operation. Give them the information ahead of time they can have all of that done when you get there. Then you will be done in less than five minutes.
