Today's weather was cooler, it rained much of the day, and was just kind of dreary. Despite the fact that I have already seen some leaves on the ground, I am choosing to be blissfully ignorant and believe that today was just a rainy day.
Summer is going so fast! Too fast! You may remember that earlier this summer I created a list of some of the things I wanted to see and do this summer. Well, I haven't hit my goal. I've checked a few off the list and I will be scrambling and hoping for good weather to complete a few more!
I'm not originally from Faribault. When I first arrived, I knew little of the area, but people were quick to educate me on the many high points of the community. One of the claims to fame is that Faribault is home to the Tilt A Whirl. Anyone who has ever been to a fair has seen or taken a ride on one, and around Faribault, you're almost guaranteed to know someone who spent part of their life building the rides. Recently, an effort was made to have one of the Tilt A Whirl cars restored and last night was the unveiling of the finished product!
I love summer. I love more daylight, outdoor patios, music in the parks, floating down the river, long bike rides, being warm, bonfires, strolling festivals, and basically everything else that summer encompasses! I even love the look of a tan. It's not like I am spending my days in a tanning bed, so I used to give myself a free pass on catching a few rays on a sunny day. But....
Every summer, owners polish up and roll their cars into downtown Faribault for the monthly Faribault Main Street Car Cruise. I've had the chance to go and take it in a few times, including the most recent, and final Car Cruise of the summer last Friday, and I am always amazed at the variety and beauty of vehicles on display!
