Faribault Community Marketing Director Nort Johnson stops by the KDHL studios for AM Minnesota today.

We will cover a wide range of topics, including shopping local this holiday season and why it's important.

Johnson also oversees the Faribault Main Street program, which is a comprehensive commercial revitalization strategy that helps communities preserve historic buildings and develop strategies for continuous improvement to the vitality of the downtown.

Faribault Main Street was organized to unify the central business district with emphasis on Central Avenue.

Faribault became a designated Main Street Community in July 2010.

The Main Street project has a four-point approach covering design, organization, promotion and economic restructuring.

Each of those points has a committee conducting projects.

Though the Main Street Faribault program is supported by the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce, it is for members and nonmembers of the chamber.

More than 1,700 communities nationwide have used the Main Street approach over the past 25 years.

AM Minnesota airs at 9:30AM, and we do record it for our YouTube channel, so you can listen and watch at a time that works for you.
