Salute to Veterans Day at Faribault’s Bell Field

Bell Field in Faribault hosts a Salute to Veterans Day today with a doubleheader that will be broadcast on Power 96 Radio.

The Faribault Lakers tangle with the New Prague Orioles at 2PM. Our coverage will start at 1:45PM.

That will be followed by the Faribault Flames 35 and over team playing the Lonsdale Jokers.

The Faribault Flames have had a Honor Our Veterans game since they started playing  and the idea was developed to grow it more with inclusion of the Lakers and their fans. In the past, veterans have been able to go to the game for free and sign in with their branch of service and years of service. The public address announcer would read some of the veterans' names and information between innings and they generally would be recognized with applause from the crowd.

It really is a neat event and I hope Bell Field is packed, but for those who can't make it we will have the games on Power 96.

This is particularly nice for all those veterans living in nursing homes or handicapped in some way and unable to make it to the ballpark.
