The 34th annual Rural Legislative Forum will be Thursday, December 8, at South Central College in North Mankato. The forum will begin at 4PM and wrap up at 8PM. The topic this year will be Rapidly Rising Property Taxes, Challenging Rural Minnesota. This seems to be a very timely topic with the low corn and bean prices. Along with rising property taxes, this is really putting a strain on farmers and retired farmers who rent their land.

The keynote address will be given by Eric Willette, Property Tax Research director at the Minnesota Department of Revenue. There will be a response and a legislative panel along with a pork chop dinner. The cost including the dinner is just $15. Contact the University of Minnesota Extension in Blue Earth County if you would like to attend at (507) 304-4325. They always plan for a few more so if you find you can go at the last minute you can register right there.
