I-90 west of I-35 and state highways south of Highway 14 will be closing at 2PM today due to hazardous conditions.

As of 1PM, Steele County Sheriff Lon Thiele is advising no travel in Steele County due to deteriorating conditions. No travel is also advised for Waseca County.

As of 1PM there had been four accidents or spinouts on I-35 and eight on I-90.

A multiple-vehicle accident occurred on I-90 east of Albert Lea just before 9 this morning. A westbound pickup lost control on the icy road and entered the median ditch. It rolled and landed on its roof in the eastbound lanes. The driver was ejected. Several minutes later five more vehicles, including a semi, were eastbound when they struck the pickup. The accident resulted in multiple injuries but no fatalities.
