Monday marks a busy day for road construction in the area. May 11 is the date that road crews will begin reconstructing the eastbound lanes of Highway 14 east of Owatonna. Traffic will remain head to head in the construction zone, but will be shifted from the old eastbound lanes to the new westbound lanes The Minnesota Department of Transportation also announces that the eastbound on-ramp to Highway 14 from Highway 218 will be closed. The Highway 14 construction expansion project is east of Owatonna from Highway 218 to 54th Avenue. Work began last summer and is scheduled to be finished in September.

On Monday, May 11, the Steele County Highway Department will begin pavement maintenance on Main Street between Oak Avenue and Elm Avenue. Crews will be working on eastbound lanes on Monday from 7AM to 4PM if the weather cooperates. This means there will be no parking on the south side of the road that day. Entrances into parking lots with alternative access may be blocked off.

Crews will work on the westbound lanes on Tuesday from 7AM to 4PM. Parking lot entrances may be blocked off as well and there will be no parking on the north side of the road on Tuesday.

Weather permitting, this work should be done by May 13. In the event of rain, work will be delayed accordingly.
