The Rice County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting its annual tree seedling pick up day on Friday, April 21. The Rice County SWCD has taken orders for a variety of tree seedlings and shrubs. The tree seedlings and shrubs are sold in bundles of 25 and can be used for conservation purposes like windbreaks and wildlife areas. If you ordered trees and shrubs, you can pick them up at the Conservation building on the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault on Friday, April 21 from 8AM to 4:30PM.

If you did not order any trees and shrubs, the Rice County SWCD will have some for sale on April 21. They have a fair amount of hazelnut, red dogwood, red maple, red oak and river birch available. These quality bare-root seedlings cost $39 for a bundle of 25. These are available on a first-come basis, so if you would like to purchase certain species you might want to be there earlier in the day, not later.
