On Friday, June 10, the Rice County Historical Society hosted an evening out at the Faribault American Legion. The night featured a rib dinner, silent auction, and music by the Over and Back Band.

Composed of Craig Wasner, Steve Jennings, Mike Hildebrandt and Gordon Oschwald, the Over and Back Band has been playing together since 1991, with a blend of musical styles. There was also a raffle, with a 1 in 5 chance of winning $100 and the grand prize was $1,500. All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the Rice County Historical Society’s ongoing programs and activities. The Rice County Historical Society works hard to provide quality programs and  to preserve our county’s rich history.

KDHL News Director Gordy Kosfeld was tapped to emcee the event, but due to some unpredictable weather and state playoff action, he was forced to miss the event and asked me to fill in. While there were big shoes to fill and I do not have the experience emceeing that Gordy does, I gave it a shot, and met some very interesting people, listen to the fantastic music, and see firsthand the hard work that the staff at the Rice County Historical Society does. If you haven't been recently, make sure to visit the Rice County Historical Society Museum soon as there are some fun new additions, and you might be surprised at all you'll learn!
