Rice County Historical Society Executive Director Susan Garwood will be the guest on today's KDHL AM Minnesota program. The show begins at 9:30AM.

There are some upcoming events they would like to inform us about.

Tuesday, September 20, there will be a special presentation by Jan Stevens titled DNA and Genealogical Research. Stevens had a DNA test and found out something that was a total shock.

Sunday, September 25, from 1-4PM there will be a first anniversary celebration of the filming and production of the history series 1855 a couple of teenagers have been uploading to YouTube.

You might recall we visited with one of the teens, Samuel Temple, during a history segment at the Rice County Fair in July.

There will be a DVD signing and episodes screening in the Carlander Family Room at the Rice County Historical Society Museum in Faribault.

The fourth annual "A Night at the Museum" is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, from 4-8PM. The Rice County Historical Society website says you can "see history brought to life." A actual lesson will be delivered in the one-room schoolhouse.

You can greet a frontier housewife and meet an altar guild member of the former Cannon City Episcopal Church. Go on a flashlight tour of the Heritage and Harvest Halls, where antique farm equipment and items from early Rice County businesses are kept.

Cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children younger than 12. Hot dogs, cider and cookies will be sold at the event.

If you can't listen to the program on the radio, go to www.youtube.com/user/KDHLRadio  and watch on your time.
