The Rice County Fair is July 21-26 and Fair Board Executive Secretary John Dvorak will stop by the studios for another Fair Talk segment today.

I visited with Kathy Cap this morning and there are seven contestants hoping to be the Rice County Fair Queen this year, with representation from throughout the county: two contestants from Faribault, Northfield and Morristown and one from Lonsdale.

There are lots of contests people can be involved with during the fair. For example, a quilter can enjoy their hobby by using a county fair theme in a contest that says one 12.5-inch block per person should be used. You can use any colors you desire. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place and nine honorable mention ribbon quilt squares will be displayed in the Archery Building during the fair.

All entries become property of the Rice County Fair and the top 12 will be made into a quilt to be displayed at the 2016 fair and given away in a drawing at the volunteer dinner in 2016.

All others will be made into quilts to be used for drawings at a later date.

There's a cool exhibit coming to this year's fair that includes a simulator where youngsters can drive a tractor in a field.

We'll get details at 9:30AM, so tune in and be informed.
