The annual Rice and Steele County Crops Day program will be tomorrow in the Steele County Community Center on the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna. Registration is at 8:30AM with coffee and rolls, the program begins at 9AM. While the program is called Rice and Steele County Crops Day, all farmers and agronomists are welcome no matter which county you call home. The program was organized by Kendra Schroeder, Extension educator in Rice and Steel Counties, along with KDHL in Faribault and KRFO in Owatonna.

The program and speakers include: Emerging challenges for insect management (soybean aphids) in soybeans with Extension entomologist Bob Koch, Herbicide resistant weeds and developing a management plan with Extension educators Lisa Behnken and Ryan Miller, What is a fair farmland rental agreement with Ag Business Management Extension educator Dave Beau. Finally Gordy Kralovetz from Chido Commodities will talk markets.

I should also mention that our good friends at Cashwise Foods in Owatonna will be serving lunch. The entire program is free and you do not have to register ahead of time. These are some very timely topics that all farmers are dealing with, so I sure hope we get a nice crowd tomorrow in Owatonna!
