The annual Rice and Steele County Crops Day will be on Tuesday February 27, 2018 in the 4-H Building on the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault. Registration is at 8:30 the program begins at 9:00 am. Even though it is called Rice and Steele County everyone is welcome no matter which county you live in. You do not have to pre-register and there is no cost thanks to a number of sponsors. Cash Wise Foods in Owatonna will be catering the lunch.

The morning will emphasize weed and resistance management in soybeans. Topics include: Growing soybeans that out-compete weeds, Out-smarting your opponent, Breaking the cycle of loving a technology to death, and Implementing a game plan. This part of the program is sponsored by the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council.

After lunch Dr. Dean Malvick, UMN Plant Pathology Extension Specialist will discuss Soybean diseases and variety selection. Finally Gordon Kralovetz from Chiodo Commodities will talk about the corn and soybean markets. If you cannot spend the whole day you can attend part of the program too. Hope to see you there!
