Thursday afternoon on my way out to the farm I stopped in at Paddington's Seed and Feed in Faribault to say good-bye to Dan Collins. Deb at Paddington's brought in Jimmy John sandwiches, cake and invited all the customers of Paddington's to stop in and wish Dan well. Deb, being the type that likes to laugh and have fun, kept kidding Dan about his second retirement.

I first got to know Dan when he was the Faribault chief of police. Fortunately, only when he would be at KDHL studios or maybe at the Faribault Heritage Days parade! Anyway, after Dan retired he began working part time at Paddington's Seed and Feed in Faribault. It was a perfect fit as Dan loved birds, pets and all animals! Plus, he knew a lot about feeding them, weather it was a bird, cat, dog, goat, chicken or some other animal. Deb said Dan will be greatly missed at Paddington's but yet she was happy for him having the opportunity to move back up north in retirement to enjoy nature!
