I took this picture earlier this week when I was scouting my second-crop beans after peas. It has been about two weeks since I sprayed the field with generic Roundup. The field looked really nice with no weeds. I checked it again five days later and there were waterhemp weeds growing throughout the field. I could not understand where they all came from but I knew I had to kill them. Notice all the dead waterhemp weeds and one growing in the middle of the picture?

At first I was hoping this weed might have been under other weeds so it was protected by the weed canopy and the spray did not get on it. Well, if you look at the other dead weeds, they are not right next to this waterhemp that survived. The only other logical conclusion is this weed is tolerant or resistant to Roundup. I could have the weed tissue tested to know for sure, but I still need to get weeds like this killed. There are too many to go out and pull so this afternoon I am going to spray the field with a different herbicide. I sure hope it kills them!
