Great defenses make the opposition feel uncomfortable, and the Class A No. 1-rated Goodhue Wildcats play great defense.

The Wildcats just ran away from a good Kenyon-Wanamingo team in girls action in Goodhue on Friday night 73-43.

The Wildcats led 47-19 at the half thanks in large part to their transition after steals.

Kenyon-Wanamingo had 13 turnovers in the first half and Goodhue scored 18 points off those miscues.

Goodhue is so deep. They have girls coming off their bench that would start for most other teams.

Five-foot-11 sophomore Sydney Lodermeier led the way. This young lady brought the ball up the floor against the Knights' press, hung around the basket on defense to block and after numerous shots, rebounded and scored 14 points to lead her team in scoring.

Lodermeier showed all the tools in the kit with a couple of threes in addition to her strong finishes around the basket and was perfect from the free throw line.

Five-foot-5 junior Mckenzie Ryan added 12 points with a couple of threes, and 5-foot-8 junior Maddy Miller and 5-foot-8 senior Taylor Larson each added 10 points in the lopsided victory.

Goodhue was clearly the physically stronger team, totally dominating on the glass!

Kenyon-Wanamingo was led by Mara Quam with 19 points and Savannah Bleess added eight.

The Knights (4-4) are home against Triton on Tuesday and unbeaten Goodhue goes to Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
