River Bend Nature Center has been working with the Goat Dispatch company to restore native habitat using goats to eat invasive species. Goat Dispatch is owned by Jake and Amanda Langeslag. The goats will help you recycle by eating your old Christmas trees. Trees or wreaths need to be bare -- free of ornaments, metal and stands -- and not flocked. You drop your tree off for recycling at the River Bend Nature Center parking lot or call to schedule a pickup at your curb.

To schedule your pickup in Faribault city limits, call River Bend Nature Center at (507) 332-7151. Pickup charges are $5 per tree and $2 per wreath. Drop-off at the Nature Center is free, although donations are encouraged. The public is invited to watch the goats eat the trees at River Bend’s WinterFest on January 24.
