When country fans hear Rascal Flatts' gorgeous ballads on hits like 'God Bless the Broken Road' or 'Changed,' it's clear lead singer Gary LeVox has an exceptional voice. But, his second cousin and fellow band member Jay DeMarcus didn't realize the talent he held for quite a while. He tells all to Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex.

"I think I was 27 years old when ... I heard Gary really belt out a song," DeMarcus admits. He explains that he had been gone from home for quite awhile to go to college, and the cousins lost touch when they were around 19 years old.

"He called me one day and we reconnected," Demarcus continues. "We always had the ability ... to pick up right where we left off." He knew LeVox wanted to sing for him, but he was a little nervous about what to expect. Well, he was pleasantly surprised. After LeVox began singing 'One Last Cry' by Brian McKnight, the rest is history -- and they have the Grammy to prove it.

The two cousins, who now have a third band member in Joe Don Rooney, missed a lot of chances to harmonize together while climbing trees or playing with trucks, but now they're certainly making up for lost time. LeVox's impeccable vocals will be showcased on their upcoming and highly anticipated album, 'Rewind,' out May 13.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 50 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
