For the most part I am hearing about very good yields for corn and soybeans this year. Many farmers are just getting a good start on the corn, but the bean harvest should be pretty well finished soon. There are some fields that are still too wet because of all the rain and will need a few more days to dry. In addition, many fields have wet areas that farmers went around that hopefully will dry out eventually. I am hearing bean yields of many whole farm averages in the middle 60s or even close to 70 bushels an acre.

It is early in the corn harvest, but I am hearing that many fields are in the 200 bushel an acre range. Maybe down a little bit from last year's record but still a very excellent crop. Another plus is the moisture in many fields is in the upper teens. That will sure speed the corn harvest along and save on propane costs of drying the corn. Having more bushels of grain to sell will ease some of the pain of low prices.
