Julie Fakler and Heather Neal stop by the KDHL studio from the Paradise Center for the Arts and talk about their packed happenings in June.

The Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos show is tomorrow night at 7:30PM with Ted Manderfeld and Dave Eicholtz. Eicholtz was on AM Minnesota last Friday and said the audience drives the show.

There's a Grand Ole Paradise fundraiser June 11 billed as "An evening of pickin' and grinnin' " with Faribault's own Barb Piper and friends performing.

The Merlin Players professional theatre introduces the Tony Award-winning musical 1776 to local audiences June 17-25 at the Paradise Center for the Arts. 1776 was nominated for five Tony Awards and won three in 1969 after premiering on Broadway.

It captured the Best Musical Award that year and artistic director Julianna Skluzacek told KDHL during her last visit on AM Minnesota they thought during a presidential election year it would be an appropriate production. The show puts a human face on Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and their iconic peers of that era. The show is described as, "funny, compelling and insightful" on the Paradise website.

There are a lot of arts education opportunities also in June, such as a community iron pour and scratch tile workshop.

The Paradise sponsors the Chalk on Walk contest during Heritage Days in Faribault on June 17 from 1-4PM.

Fakler is also teaching a class on painting a portrait of your pet on June 15 and we will be sure to ask her for details about that and maybe get a tip on how to get Fido or Taffy to pose for this portrait.

I'm guessing you paint from a photo you take of your furry family member.
