The undermanned Owatonna High School boys' basketball team played a tight game with No. 5 ranked Mankato East while using just six players. East won the game 57-51 Monday in Mankato. It was a makeup game from early in the season. The teams play again Tuesday, January 29 in Owatonna.

The Huskies trailed just 32-31 at the half but had 12 of their 17 turnovers after halftime. OHS out-rebounded East 26-22. Jack Hanson scored 20 points and was named the TPS Insurance Player of the Game. Steven Eckard scored 12 and Evan Dushek added ten.

Injuries have been a constant subplot for the Huskies this season, some carrying over from the state championship football season. Other in-season mishaps have added to the lost minutes. Owatonna (4-9, 3-6 Big Nine) goes to Rochester Century Friday and hosts Northfield Saturday.

The Owatonna girls lost to Mankato West Monday 71-39 at the OHS gym, a makeup from last Friday's snowstorm. Emma Dahnert scored a career-best 11 points. The Huskies (4-10, 4-7 Big Nine) host Century Friday and go to Northfield Saturday afternoon.
