Due to the growing effects of the flu across Minnesota, Allina Health announces visitor restrictions effective Tuesday, January 22 at all of their hospitals, which includes Owatonna Hospital and District One Hospital in Faribault. Allina implements these guidelines when the Minnesota Department of Health determines influenza to be widespread.

Per a news release Monday, Allina asks people who are ill to refrain from visiting patients at their hospitals in addition to Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley. Children under five should not visit the hospital. Exceptions may be considered in certain cases. Talk to a hospital official if your situation may merit an exception.

Those who visit the Mom Baby/Birth Center may need to go through a wellness screening. They also ask visitors to cover their cough and wash hands. Antibacterial hand cleanser is also provided throughout their facilities.

Allina hospitals include District One Hospital in Faribault, Owatonna Hospital, Abbot Northwestern in Minneapolis, United in St. Paul plus facilities in Buffalo, Cambridge, Coon Rapids, Fridley, New Ulm Minneapolis (Phillips Eye Institute), Hastings, River Falls, WI and Shakopee.
