I guess I should have been a little more careful when I sprayed the weeds in the road ditch along the edge of my sweet corn. I have a 15-gallon sprayer with an electric pump in the back of my Gator I use to spot-spray weeds. It is very easy to ride around and kill weeds. It is obvious sweet corn is very susceptible to Roundup because some drifted onto the first row and killed it.

I have noticed in many fields waterhemp and giant ragweed are growing along road ditches, waterways and field boarders. When they become established you will see them spread into the field. With all the reports of waterhemp and giant ragweed developing resistance to many herbicides, I decided to do a better job this year of killing weeds on the edges of my fields. Yes, I killed a few stalks of sweet corn, but there are a lot of weeds that will not produce seed this year because I killed them.
