Faribault Fire Chief Dustin Dienst told KDHL/POWER 96 Monday the storm that rolled through the community and surrounding area did keep his department busy.

Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn also told KDHL/POWER 96 his office responded to numerous calls for service. The majority of the calls were concerning downed trees and powerlines.

Many of the powerlines were still "live" causing small fires, arcing and smoking.

Chief Dienst said an elderly man was literally blown over by the wind and did suffer some pretty significant injuries.

There were a number of fire alarm calls and there were some people trapped in an elevator.

In a news release issued by Chief Dienst he says, "Faribault is a city where neighbors help neighbors during time of need, I personally witnessed this today."

The Faribault Fire Chief says, "Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officials and Dispatchers did a wonderful job triaging the calls and getting the right resources to mutliple calls in a timely manner."

Faribault City Administrator Brian Anderson says the Public Works Department, "has been and will be out working on clearing streets of debris from this storm.  The compost site will be open every day this week to facilitate clean-up.  Check the City of Faribault website and Facebook page for updates on the clean-up, including compost site hours."
