The Waseca Bluejays had just a pair of losses heading into semi-final action against a conference opponent they had no trouble with twice during the regular season.  Tournament time can produce some strange happenings and the St. Peter Saints took advantage of a seemingly tight Bluejay team and knocked them off 52-49 at Mankato East High School Friday night.  The South Sub-section of Section Two Class 2A semi-final featured the top seeded Bluejays and fourth seeded St. Peter.  In the other semi-final 3rd seed Waterville-Elysian-Morristown rode the inside game of freshman post Zac Olson and the sharpshooting of Landon Harmon to a 79-64 win.  Olson had 12 of his 26 points at the half when the Bucs led 35-24.  Harmon finished with 23 and tallied five threes on the night.  Junior Point Guard Cole Pope tallied 11 on the night.  The Panthers and Bucs split during the regular Gopher Conference season with each getting double digit wins on their home floor.  W-E-M is now 18-8 and will play 14-11 St. Peter 8pm Tuesday night in the Bresnan Arena in the Taylor Center on the Minnesota State University campus in Mankato for the South Sub-section Champioship of Section Two Class 2A.

In the North Sub-Section #1 seed Mayer Lutheran was defeated by 5th seeded Leseur-Henderson 66-62 and 3rd seeded Glencoe-Silver Lake beat Jordan 53-33.  The winners play at 6PM Tuesday at the Bresnan Arena.  In Section Two Class A happenings.  In the south, second seeded United South Central  downed St. Clair 68-54 to up their record to 20-4 and Top seed and Number Two ranked  Mountain Lake Area defeated Mankato Loyola 63-54 in Lake Crystal.  Mountain Lake is now 21-2 and plays United South Central for the Sub-Section championship Tuesday at 8pm at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.  In the North top seeded Atwater- Cosmos-Grove City bested Cedar Mountain Comfrey 91-56 and Lester Prairie Holy Trinity got by Minnesota Valley Lutheran 86-71.  They play 6pm Tuesday at Gustavus.
