Northfield (16-3-3) avenged a 1-0 loss earlier in the fall to Mankato West (18-3) by shutting out the Scarlets 3-0 in a Class A semifinal match. Northfield’s defense was strong, limiting the Scarlets to just two shots, only one on goal. Matteo Lombardo had four shots and scored on two of them to lead Northfield to an upset win. The Raiders led 2-0 at halftime, on Lombardo’s first tally and a goal scored by Thomas Gallagher, headed in a cross off a free kick. Mankato West was the No. 1 seed in Class A, Northfield was seeded fifth.

Northfield will face either the Blake School or St. Thomas Academy in the championship on Thursday at 10AM at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Minnesota State High School League staff contributed to this report.
