Northfield is Third Seed in Section 1 AAA and Lakeville North Tops 1AAA

The Section 1 Class AAA and AAAA tournaments begin Wednesday night at the high seed.

In Class AAA, Red Wing is the top seed and hosts Albert Lea. No. 4 Winona has No. 5 Kasson-Mantorville travel to their gym. No. 3 Northfield hosts No. 6 Byron. No. 2 Austin has No. 7 Stewartville make a short trip to Packer country.

The semifinals are Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center at 6:30PM and 8PM.

In Class AAAA, Lakeville North hosts Rochester Century. No. 4 New Prague sees No. 5 Farmington at their gym. No. 3 Lakeville South hosts No. 6 Owatonna. No. 2 Rochester John Marshall has No. 7 Rochester Mayo cross town to play.

The semifinals are Saturday at 1PM and 2:45PM.

The Section 1 AAA title game is March 4 at 6PM and the AAAA title will tip off at 8PM.

Northfield head coach Andy Berkvam told KDHL on Saturday's Northfield Coaches Show the section is loaded with good teams that are well coached and it won't be easy for any team to run the table.
