The 123rd annual North Morristown Fourth of July Celebration is this weekend on the grounds of Trinity Lutheran Church and School.

Event Chairman Al Spitzack will stop by KDHL to give us details about what is believed to be the oldest Independence Day event in Minnesota.

What I enjoy most about the event is the Patriotic Program, which follows the parade. Each year a guest gives a brief address during the program, which also features everyone singing patriotic songs. Once again this year KDHL will broadcast the program from the main stage for those who can't be there.

Monroe Crossing is back by popular demand to entertain, along with Sawtooth Brothers and Benson Family Singers on the main stage. The Jolly Huntsman Band and Downtown Sound performs in the Beer Garden.

The food stands always have delicious offerings such as freshly squeezed lemonade and popcorn with real butter. Homemade pies are always a treat I enjoy, and sometimes I have a scoop of ice cream on top.

The parade starts at 10AM, and the grand marshals are David and Diane Velzke. We'll find out how and why they were chosen this year so tune in at 9:30AM.
