Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen told us Night to Unite is a great opportunity for people in the community to connect with their neighbors.  There was connecting going on all over town Tuesday night.  At the Buckham Center complex scores of people turned out to enjoy some delicious walking tacos, visit with police and fire professionals and see some of the tools they work with to keep us safe.  Director of Faribault Senior Center Special Events Jen Bimberg told KDHL she was very pleased with the turnout and in particular was elated to see the many ages represented at the event.  A brass band entertained with some polkas while kids were playing in a bouncy house and youngsters were climbing into a fire truck or seeing what equipment is included in a police car.  The Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault brought by some of their SORT (Special Operations Response Team) gear including one of their K-9 units.  The SORT team trains in emergency response including riot control and empty handed control measures in case of a prison uprising.  It was a fun, informative evening.
