I thought you might get a laugh about my problem-solving at the farm Tuesday afternoon. I had my liquid fertilizer in these mini-totes from Brad Spinler at Agrology Crop and Soil in Morristown. I just set these on the trailer and then pump the fertilizer into the tank on the tractor. I put about 5 gallons an acre on in furrow or with the seed. When one mini-tote is empty I switch the hose on the transfer pump to another mini-tote. That is when I noticed a problem.

The coupling on my transfer pump turns onto to the threads on the mini-tote. Well, it is supposed to. One of the mini-totes had different threads or size because my coupling did not fit. It would take a couple of hours to drive to Boss Supply in Janesville to get a coupling to fit. Corn is not getting planted while I am driving down the road. I thought about how to get that liquid fertilizer into the tank on the tractor. After a couple of bad words, I found a roll of duct tape in the truck. I just held the coupling on my transfer pump next to the threads on the mini-tote and wrapped duct tape around it. It worked. I filled the tank on the tractor and went back to planting corn.
