It was 1947 when the tradition began of celebrating National FFA Week. The week of George Washington's birthday was chosen by the FFA Board of Directors to recognize Washington's legacy as a farmer. This year National FFA Week will be celebrated February 20-27. It is a week to promote and advocate for high school agriculture and FFA programs. FFA chapters in our listening area come up with all kinds of fun and educational events to promote the FFA. In addition, many host a free breakfast or something similar to thank school administrators, teachers, business, parents and supporters of the FFA.

To celebrate National FFA Week and promote the FFA, I have been busy recording short messages with FFA members from a number of chapters in our area. The members write their own messages about why they joined the FFA, what it means to them, experiences they gained, special activities they will be hosting during National FFA Week and so on. Those messages will run on the air all next week. I hope you enjoy hearing from FFA members and different business that support local agriculture and FFA programs.
