It's no secret that music is a huge influence on our lives. Just hearing a particular song can take you back in time, or make you think of a certain someone. Sometimes its the tune that pulls you in, other time you relate to the lyrics.

I have the radio on a lot. A LOT. Between working here at the Power 96 and KDHL studios, and having the music on at home and in the car, I'm pretty much always listening to music. I can't imagine it any other way. So, what song fits my life? Well...........

I've written about my car before, so you probably know that it's about 18 years old and has a few "quirks". I put some air in the tires today (this is becoming something of a frequent ritual with 2 of the tires), twisted the cap back on and hopped back in the car. The radio was on, as always, and as one song ended and another started, I realized that song hit the nail on the head! It pretty much describes my car to a T! The problems might be a tad different, but the overall message is the same. The song is Aaron Tippin's "There ain't nothing wrong with the radio".

In the original song the lyrics are "Sometimes she runs, sometimes she don't. More than once she's left me on the side of the road. The older she gets the slower we go. But there ain't nothin' wrong with the radio. She needs a carburetor, a set of plug wires. She's ridin' me around on four bald tires. The wipers don't work and the horn don't blow. But there ain't nothin' wrong with the radio"

As applied to my car, the lyrics would be: "Sometimes she runs, sometimes she don't. More than once she's left me on the side of the road. The older she gets the slower we go. But there ain't nothin' wrong with the radio. She needs a new suspension, she's got a little rust. She's ridin' me around on four bald tires. The blinker don't work and the heat don't blow. But there ain't nothing wrong with the radio"

I suppose I could have reworked the entire song, but that would take more creativity and time then I have. Did I ever think that if my life were compared to a song that the winner would be one about a run down car? Nope. But, at least its an upbeat tune!
