I've always wanted an Italian leather coat and yes, while in Italy that dream became a reality. Before purchasing my coat in Florence, I bought a ceramic butter dish and don't remember which town I purchased it in.

I had been looking for a butter dish for some time. All I could find were plastic ones, and when I saw this collection of butter dishes in nearly every color and style imaginable I decided to bring one home.

I planned to spend up to $350 for a good Italian leather coat and purchased one after going to about six shops in Florence for 290 euros (about $322). In Italy, you can negotiate the price. The suggested retail price was 499 euros, but as I said to the store owner, nobody ever pays that price. It turns out he knew the Twin Cities area well and had a store in Los Angeles for four years before moving back to his native Italy. The coat is lightweight and my journey partners seemed to like it. The store does sell merchandise online and makes their own items at a factory in Florence. The name of the store is Bottega Ricasoli.
