Friday evening I headed up to the Celebrate Lamb Social at the Oak Ridge Conference Center in Chaska. It was part of the Shepherd's Holiday Conference sponsored by the Minnesota Lamb and Wool Producers Association. The lamb cooking demonstrations and samples were prepared by Chef Virgile Emmert from the Oak Ridge Conference Center. Emmert grew up on a sheep farm and went to culinary school, so he has a passion for developing new ways to promote and prepare lamb.

This was the first time I have eaten lamb. John Dvorak is very involved in the lamb and wool industry so he invited me to the social. It all began last summer when we were on AM Minnesota talking about the Rice County Fair. I told him I had never tasted lamb and you would think the fair manager who was in the sheep industry would be able to get one food booth at the fair that served lamb! John called me four times to remind me of the Lamb Social on Friday evening!

By the way the "lamb pockets" and "lamb tacos" were very good! Thank You John for inviting me to the Celebrate Lamb Social. In the picture is Oak Ridge Conference Center chef Virgil Emmert and Jeremy Geske, the secretary of the Minnesota Lamb and Wool Producers Association. Jeremy is my witness that I enjoyed the lamb.
