Movie Makers Love Northfield

On the heels of Love Always, Santa, the Hallmark movie filmed in Northfield, the Northfield News reports another film is being shot in the city, and nearby Nerstrand.

The Nanny, from Epic Pictures, is a science-fiction film starring Jaime Murray, Schulyer Fisk and Nick Gomez, who has had roles in The Walking Dead, Dexter and NCIS. The story is a dark take on Mary Poppins, according to the Northfield News.

Minnesota's big trees, state parks and the Minnesota snowbate program, which provides tax rebates to filmmakers, attracted producers to the area.

Filming has taken place at Nerstrand Elementary School, with students getting to be extras. Other scenes have been shot at the Contented Cow, the Tavern at Archer House, near the Cannon River and the Carleton College Arboretum.

Crews are expected back later this week to wrap filming, after which post-production will begin. The finished film is expected to be released in 2017.
