Today was the first day of the Minnesota Ag Expo. The Minnesota Soybean Growers held their annual meeting today and the Minnesota Corn Growers tomorrow. There were more than 100 exhibitors set up in the trade show. The trade show was actually in the hockey rink where the Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks play. They put some type of covering over the ice and set up the booths. It is amazing how versatile building are these days.

There were all kinds of educational seminars, including this picture of Bryce Anderson with DTN talking about weather. As you can see, there were a lot of farmers there for Anderson's talk. There is concern about the current El Nino pattern, which is one of the strongest in history, rapidly moving to the opposite La Nina. The tendency is that when you move from one extreme to the other there is a higher possibility for having a hot, dry summer. If only we knew what the weather was going to be for the growing season we would know when to sell the crop. That is why so many farmers were listening to Anderson's long-term weather outlook.
