As the Minnesota Twins are tanking, the Wild and the Timberwolves have hired their new coaches, and as the Lynx are about to embark on what could be a historic season for them, I thought I would share a bunch of jottings about the Vikings.

  • The Minneapolis City Council is ready to put some more restrictions on where and when tailgating can take place around the new stadium. With so much of the land being used for residential construction or parking, they don't want people who want to have fun landing just anywhere.
  • According to the Star Tribune, the asphalt work is done at the new stadium and the field turf will be installed this week. The team’s Norseman mascot will be inlaid in the turf at the 50-yard line, complementing the purple seats already in place. The Vikings’ new turf is the same product laid in three other NFL stadiums: MetLife, home to the New York Giants and Jets; the Superdome, home to the New Orleans Saints; and Paul Brown, home to the Cincinnati Bengals. People will be allowed to tour the stadium in July. There will be a soccer match Aug. 3, a Luke Bryan concert Aug. 19 and Metallica concert Aug. 20. Then the Vikings get to start breaking it in.
  • Former Viking Chris Carter is reportedly out and former teammate Randy Moss is in as a football analyst at ESPN.
  • Adrian Peterson hints that the Vikings have a good chance to win the title this year.
