Tuesday is Election Day, and while there are not any candidates or issues to be decided in Faribault, there are a number of school districts across the state hoping to pass some requests.

Sixty-eight districts are requesting help with building bond or capital project levy requests, and 53 school districts across the state are requesting operating levy referendum help.

You might recall Waterville-Elysian-Morristown last May requested $28.6 million to remodel all their buildings. The request was turned down by a 1,366 to 727 margin.

The district has two questions on Tuesday's ballot for school district residents to vote on.  One is the renewal of a current levy of $976 per pupil for 10 years, and the second question asks for $450 per pupil for 10 years.

Other levy referendum requests include:

  • Cannon Falls Area: $500 per pupil for 10 years
  • Cleveland: $512 per pupil for 10 years, an increase of $500 per pupil
  • Hayfield: $300 dollar per pupil increase to $851 per pupil for five years
  • Lakeville is requesting $100 per pupil for 10 years
  • Rochester: $258 increase to $836 per pupil for 10 years
  • Southland: $1,162 increase to $1,550 per pupil for 10 years

Among those districts in the KDHL/Power 96 listening area holding bond and capital campaign project referendums are:

  • Lakeville is requesting a capital project levy for technology and security in the amount of $21,166,670.
  • Farmington is asking for maintenance, safety and security and additional kindergarten classrooms in the amount of $45,320,000.
  • Waseca has two questions on the ballot. First is a request for security and maintenance renovations for $15.5 million and the other question asks for renovations and a fine arts center for $14.5 million.
  • Owatonna has a request for safety, maintenance and building additions and is asking for $77.9 million.
  • Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan has two questions. One a request for $130 million for renovations and safety upgrades to buildings. The second questions asks for approval of a $50 million technology levy.

Polls open at 7AM and close at 8PM in each of the communities.
