Four champions were crowned in Minnesota high school baseball after a perfect day for baseball at beautiful Target Field in Minneapolis.

The day began with the Class A state title game going 11 innings before Springfield captured the championship with a 4-2 win over Parker's Prairie. Parker's Prairie was the top seed and Springfield the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The 11-inning game took just 2 hours, 23 minutes.

The Class AA championship game followed and top-ranked and top-seeded Belle Plaine had their 17-game winning streak snapped by the Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks 5-1.

Redhawk pitcher Jesse Ratzlaff two-hit the Tigers just as Pine Island pitcher Matt Lien did in the tournament opener last Thursday in St. Cloud on KDHL. The Tigers finished their season 27-2. State champion Minnehaha Academy is 27-3 and wins their first state baseball championship.

In Class AAA, the Cinderellas of the tournament, Henry Sibley, completed the mission while beating the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 1 seeds in the tournament en route to the state title and finished the season with a 15-15 record. At one time the Warriors had a 4-14 record this season.

Henry Sibley won their second state baseball crown by defeating the top seed Mahtomedi Zephyrs 8-4. The Warriors were Class AA state champs in 1994 when there were two classes.

Henry Sibley began the tournament by defeating No. 2 seed Northfield on KDHL. The Big Nine Conference champion Raiders went on to win the consolation championship last Friday 4-2 over New Ulm after defeating North Branch 20-0 in five innings.

In Class AAAA, the Wayzata Trojans win their first baseball title by dominating Champlin Park 9-1. Twenty-six batters reached base for the Trojans in their victory. Wayzata finished the season with a 23-3 record and Champlin Park is 24-4.
