Farmers Union members from Minnesota were in Washington D.C last week for the annual National Farmers Union's Fall Legislative Fly-In. Farmers Union members were there to talk with Senators, Representatives and their staff about issues important to farmers and rural Minnesotans. Top issues include the new Farm Bill and crop insurance as a safety net, trade and exports along with regulations and environmental issues. In addition Minnesota's Senators received the National Farmers Union's highest legislative award.

Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken from Minnesota were recognized with the Golden Triangle Award. "The Golden Triangle Award recognizes farm and food champions in Congress that display outstanding leadership on the issues that are important to both our industry and our organization" said National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson.
