The 100th Minnesota Farm Bureau Annual Meeting wrapped up this weekend at the Double Tree Hotel in Bloomington. With the 100 anniversary there was a lot of talk about the history of the Minnesota Farm Bureau. There were a number of County Farm Bureaus organized before they then formed the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation. One of the major reasons County Farm Bureaus were formed were to hire a University of Minnesota Extension educator in the County. Often times the County Farm Bureau paid the salary of the Extension Educator!

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers organize the College Discussion Meet at the annual convention. The winner goes on to represent the Minnesota Farm Bureau and compete at the American Farm Bureau Convention in January. In the picture are the Discussion Meet finalists performing at the Saturday luncheon. It is really nice to see so many young people involved in a farm organization like the Minnesota Farm Bureau!
