The winter meeting season begins today with the 99th Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting. The annual meeting will be held at the Double Tree By Hilton right on 494 in Bloomington. The Producers Club reception is this evening and then the annual meeting really gets rolling Friday morning with the delegate session. Resolutions that were passed at the county conventions are acted on at the state convention. If they are passed at the state convention they move on the American Farm Bureau convention this January in Nashville.

The speakers at the 3 general sessions will be very interesting. American Farm Bureau Senior Director Mary Kay Thatcher will talk about the next farm bill. Betsy Jensen Farm Business Management Instructor at Northland Community and Technical College will discuss the economic challenges facing agriculture. Finally former Minnesota Vikings center Matt Birk will talk about the Hike Foundation for at-risk children. You can still register for the convention even for just one day on the web site: fbmn.org.
